|
|
Okay...couldn't find a thread really based around this thing using the search feature so shoot me if there already is one Proccy
Huh?
For those of you that don't know what useropts.cfg is, basically it's a file you create that allows you to manipulate the game client-side. NO it is NOT HACKING the game and is completely abiding by the UELA by using one.
Ohh?
So what can you do with it? Well you can do many many fun things with it! Things ranging from, model lighting to make RSI's and objects sort of brighter/cartoonier. You can manipulate your bullet time camera, have bullet time activated all the time in combat (not everything in slow-mo but where it should be). You can set your maximum and minimum zoom distances for your camera. You can set colour filters for your own personal tint to the game!
A little more?
If you're interested in more things you can do with it, pretty much everything is covered by 'Bayamo' in this thread. You can also post your own requests for things and he usually finds a way of doing it heh.
Getting Started
So making your useropts.cfg couldn't really be any easier! all you have to do is follow these simple steps:
1. Go to 'My Computer'.
2. Navigate to your The Matrix Online folder.
E.g. Mine was C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online
3. Next you need to go to File>New>Text Document
4. Rename your text document to useropts.cfg Make sure it is not .txt!!!
5. Say yes to any 'double-check you want to do this' pop-ups that may pop-up.
6. DONE!
Did I not say it was easy!?!?
Sooo....
Well, it's up to you to add your own lines into your useropts.cfg file because it's your game! Make it what you will. Just remember, if you want to describe your useropt that you are adding, add a # at the start of the line as this acts as a kind of notification to the game that what you are writing after it is not an actual useropt. Once you've added your describtion, go to the line after it and add your useropt!!
Okay!
If you're looking for an example, here's my own personal useropts.cfg file:
#This makes lit windows brighter at night.
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_R = 1
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_G = 1
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_B = 1
#This allows moveable camera during bullet time effect.
AllowBulletTimeCamera = 0
#This allows for further zooming out and closer zooming in.
CameraMinDist = -500
CameraMaxDist = 90000
CameraHeightOffset = 0.70
CameraHeightOffsetSitGrnd = 0.025
#This changes the colour filter, add 1 to whichever colour you want displayed.
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_R = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_G = 4
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_B = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_R = 0
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_G = 4
ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_0_B = 0
#This gets rid of the splashes at the beginning of the game.
EnableSplash = 0
#This always places bullet time on woo!
RenderBulletTimeOnly = 1
AlwaysDoBulletTime = 1
# Nighttime window light color.
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_R = 0
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_G = 0.5
WR_Material_Build_Win_Color_B = 1
#This Command Set To Zero Will Make Buildings In The Distance No Matter How Far, Detailed.
WR_PrefabLODEnable = 0
#This turns off the little night light around the player RSI.
PlayerFX_LightPool_Bright_Scale=0
PlayerFX_LightPool_Proj_Angle=1.80
PlayerFX_LightPool_Radius=5
# For Screenshots of Decent Quality and Uploadable Size.
ScreenShot_JPG_Quality = 95
#Wet Textures Supposedly
WR_WetExt_Enable = 1
#Sets The Default AFK Message
AFK_Default_Message = "(( I'm afk right now, I'll respond once I get back ))"
End
Hopefully, you won't have any problems with this if you decide to use it. But if you do, either post in that thread of Bayamo's or post back here and a few of us who use useropts.cfg regularly will try and help you. If you find any new useropts, feel free to share them! Feel free to share your own useropts.cfg files here!! Yays! lol.

wow... finally i can get some good bullet time shots. Draggy, you say you add # to the beginning and blah blah blah, so does that mean on yours
e.g.
#This allows moveable camera during bullet time effect.
AllowBulletTimeCamera = 0
i could just copy this line, and whack it into my user opts and it has the same effect? _________________

EDIT: I highly recommend the .jpg screenshots line too...it makes them really small in size compared to the .bmp's you can take but still great quality. Oh and when taking stationary/posing screenshots...hell even action ones sometimes, Anti-Aliasing is like God. _________________

Alternatively you could download userops.cfg from http://singularity.shock-therapy.org/dloads.html which has most of those mentioned by draggy already
Though I admit I only remembered to update the text explanation on the site this morning when I added the AFK to the config _________________

ScreenFilters_GreenShift_Color_1_K = 1

Lor make sure there is a space between the # and the first letter of the text.
All mine have and they seem to work correctly.
Keja make the file on your desktop then drag it to the C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online folder it will overwrite the one you have.
You probably have windows set so that it does not show hidden files, I ALWAYS allow hidden files so I can't be sure if that is why you can't find it ir not. _________________

But I don't have spaces between my # and first letter of text....Keja is having problems too though...Maybe I got something wrong xD. Lore is just trying out the restart theory though...

If you're having trouble saving the .cfg file, make sure the selection-window for file-type is set to "All Files"... sometimes if you're using a text editor, it will be auto-set to save as a .txt (or similar) file instead of .cfg. Also, the anti-aliasing (as far as I know) won't work if it is set higher than your graphics card can handle, i.e., I have a crappy old GeForce FX 5200 which allows maximum anti-aliasing of x4, so that's what my useropts forces. I realize these are sort of newbie'ish explanations, but I am newbie'ish, and maybe there's more like me out there.
BTW, Draggy, thank you very much for threading this. Good info!
EDIT: Oh, and another BTW to all, I only recently made this file (within the last two weeks) and it is seriously like playing a whole new, and flipping awesome looking, game! Do not delay, do this right now! _________________ Aloha means goodbye! |

Nope looks ok to me drag..
They are pretty much the same settings I have on the ones that I have active and they work for me. The only difference I could find were the spaces. _________________

Thats funny, I just stick anything I want to use in the already existing "options.cfg" file.
incidentally, only;
PlayerFX_LightPool_Bright_Scale = 0
is needed to turn off ones night light. _________________
