As I realised we have at least 4 members named Matt,
I started to wonder about other people's names!
I know various, but not all.
Mine's Gijs. (But I doubt many can pronounce it properly  )

According to this website my name means:
Yes, officially my name is Gijsbert.
In Dutch, the meaning is something completely different though.
As is the pronounciation, Proc.
I'm going to laugh so hard when you guys try
to pronounce my name when we're in London!

It comes from 'Robert'. And according to D4sh's site, they also used to call Robert "Dob, Hob and Nob".
But in my case, Frodo will do hihi
I did some research on 'Gijsbert', because I just knew it was going to be something funny, and the first link told me that the name consists out of two parts: "stralend" and "pijl", meaning.. 'shining arrow'. Heh.
(I always thought Gijs came from "Gijsbrecht"..)

Only know in Dutch it translates to: "Weledel Schitterende".

But yeah - nothing special about my name - except my surname is derived from a group of lawless scumbags who used to raid and pillage the Scotland/England border and helped start a big war  Got a big stone which a massive curse on it somewhere for my ancestors - maybe that explains why my life sucks now?! :p |
