I was talking to a friend of mine who was in MxO prior to the shift to Sony. She left due to numerous things. Anyway she was telling me about an server event that they had conducted. She couldn't remember the name, but it basically sounded like King of the Monument.
What it was was using Acension monument for timed PvP. She didn't tell me the details, but after a certain length of time she said that referees (who were neutral) shouted stop, and no new pvp could be started at that time. On going interlock was allowed to be finished. Once done, all those who remained alive upon the very, very top rung of Acension monument were counted, and the faction with the most people upon the monument was declared the winner, with all bragging rights that it entailed.
There was some RP to it, something about the door on Acension Monument was rumored to lead to something. Afterwards, a party was held in one of the Richmond clubs. Apparently it was well done and well received, and Agent Gray and Niobe showed up to watch the Brawl, and then during the party, Sereph showed up. She went on and on how she got to melee (she was a Karate Grandmaster) with Sereph, and how Sereph was pretty much kicking everyone's behind.
Mind you this was pre-Sony so the characters were actors, not devs, but still. It sounded pretty interesting. Just throwing it out there, since we have a built in system for all three factions, to maybe do something similiar.
Edit: Oh one more thing, she did mention that the actual monument event had been limited originally to levels 25 (she thinks) to 50. They had created a "burly brawl" type event in Mara for those 10-25. Now her memory is a little fuzzy on the Burly Brawl event in Mara, since she didn't participate, but she did say it didn't get particularly great turnout, and those who did show ended up just going to the monument. |

A burly Brawl one would be easy. You have neutral rezzers at the side, you die you get staright back into combat, you have it timed so that at the end, faction with most left wins... we should so try one of these _________________

I think that was the idea of using the monument was that you had to travel a little bit to get back into the fight, and then had to either get a really good leap to the top, or fight your way back to the top.
As for the Brawl, would you really need the rezzers? Mara Cent is what, a single leap away?
