What, Double Slit Diffraction? That's nothing. De Broglie wavelength etc. is easy to get around. You should try getting your head around some of the time dilation and length contraction stuff you have to do at A-Level physics. _________________ New ST site :: New ST Forums

It'll be lunch in a bit, and the others in my cubicle may well vanish. I still won't have audio, though. _________________

Oh, ye Gods, not another perspective video. I've seen a few, and they all centre on that same airport. Different angles, though.
Diffraction? Pfft. Fraunhofer, Fresnel, and one huge mofo of an equation which, thank God, I didn't need for the exam.
As for the electron (I assume you're referring to the first video, 'cos I couldn't hear if they mentioned electrons in the third), they can't represent that because it doesn't have a physical location. Electrons and other quantum particles have a probability of being in a region - a shell around the nucleus, in the case of an atom. Also why diffraction works.

Ah, then I need to listen to it. But it's probably for the reasons I described. _________________

That stuff freaks me out. And, at the same time, really, really, really makes me appreciate just how little we understand of the universe. Hell, I've even heard reality itself described as collapsing wavefronts of probability, and that our brains/minds are interferometers capable of both collapsing these probabilities and creating new ones. So, in essence, if I've got it right, not only do we perceive reality, we also cause it. Brings new meaning to the phrase, "If a tree falls in the woods and noone is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" I can just about see some religious implications in all of this. _________________ Can't sleep, penguins will eat me... |
