I remember reading a while back that there was a way of aquiring the game for free! And alas, with me *misplacing* (  ) my MxO game I need to get hold of it again, and no.. im not going to splash cash for the game its self only the subscription fees.
So.. how do you get hold of the game these days?

You mean the free-trial? That's via fileplanet, but you have to be a member (thus pay, so the free-trial isn't actually free).

hmm well you were wrong! I am trying to download it now, just i need to find freakin' internet explorer which i seem to have misplaced...
how do you get to IE if you have no shortcuts? (computer stupid  )

i freaking well hope so otherwise i will scream 
im downloading on 512kb adsl, so 50kb/s is gunna make this epic 2gb download ever so more interesting
for anyone whos used the free trial, can they tell me whether i will be able to login to my old account using this .exe im downloading?
hmm am i supposed to have a cd key? cause i havent been mailed anything, or been told nowt
good news is i shud be back in the matrix tomorrow evening, aslong as this works that is

No, you can't use your old account if you aren't still subscribing. With the cd-key you unlock a trial account, not the client itself.

The client is just a copy of the client. The software you bought in the shop. The account is a seperate entity. So you can use your old account or a trial account on it equally well. Just like if I was in Belgium I could log into my account using M4rb's copy of the software.

There is another version of the client hiding somewhere. I'm guessing it's the same as the trial software, unless the latter includes all the updates before it was released. The version I'm thinking of is just the launcher, which downloads the rest for you. I can't remember where I last linked it...
