Okay first off.... she is insane. But I wonder why hardly anyone feels that the same applies to the two "journalists" of america's most famous TV-station. Gee, I can live with religious fundamentalists (it's hard, but it works), they're everywhere. On a side note: I am a christian myself, and the fact that such idiots tend to speak for the entire christianity isn't the best publicity you might want to have. Believe me, there are "normal" believers as well.

Fred fucking Phelps. Fred Phelps, the famous Christian jackass of "God Hates Fags" fame, is behind this. This goes beyond simply being a bad Christian, this even goes beyond just being a motherfucking sick bastard who gets his rocks off at taunting the families of dead soldiers. He brings busloads of other sick shitheads right along with him. She's fucking insane, because she is his daughter. That must have been one hell of a horrible childhood...

And yet, there's a substantial movement in the United States that sides with Phelps except that they fall just short of the whole thing about throwing their hateful bullshit in the faces of the families of dead soldiers. Walk into a bar in Alabama and say "God Hates Fags", and every three-toothed hick in the place will buy you a drink before the night is out. Suggest that Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for the sinful city of New Orleans, and you might just get a second. America has a problem right now that goes beyond pockets of religious extremism, beyond political ideology or feelings of imperial invincibility. The problem: ignorance. Ignorance is strength, Orwell taught us; that guy knew his stuff. Ignorant people can be taught to not think but feel - and once people stop thinking, their leaders can make them "feel" whatever they want. This is never a good thing: any rhetorical half-wit can then make them hate and fear anything that looks, acts, thinks, or smells differently. I'm sure this isn't exclusively an American problem, but I can only comment on what I've seen - and this is it.

Personally, I'd like to see each and every one of these people strung up by their toes, and beaten like a piñata until their brains come out from where the candy usually is.

The host: Sean Hannity. Garden variety right-wing jackass here in the United States - and I say "garden variety" because Rupert Murdoch really does seem to have an "idiot garden" back behind one of his houses in which he grows these people. His buddy, Alan Colmes, is a moderate Democrat disguised as a liberal, put there almost explicitly to make Hannity look like big strong alpha male.

I can't believe I have to back Hannity... so I won't. He's an asshole, she's batshit crazy, and at least Colmes had something resembling balls for a change - even though the Phelps bitch is what they call in the business an easy target.
